Turkish SDS Regulation: Regulation on Preparation and Distribution of Safety Data Sheets regarding Dangerous Substances and Preparations

The latest Turkish SDS Regulation - Regulation on Preparation and Distribution of Safety Data Sheets regarding Dangerous Substances and Preparations is published in Official Gazette with number 29204 on 15 Dec 2014 and fully comes into force on 1 June 2016.

It aligns the Turkish SDS format with EU SDS regulation 453/2010/EC and sets detailed requirements on the content and order of sections in Turkish SDSs.

Key Requirements of Turkish SDS Regulation

  • Standard 16-section SDSs;
  • Must be prepared in Turkish and provided free of charge;
  • Must be prepared by certified SDS experts in Turkey;
  • A copy of SDSs shall be submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.

Please note an expert holding a current certificate cannot prepare new SDSs before he/she receives new accreditations.

Critical Dates of Turkish SDS Regulation

15 Dec 2014
  • The regulation comes into force;
1 June 2015
  • Mandatory for hazardous substances;
1 June 2016
  • Mandatory for both hazardous substances and mixtures.
