China GB/T xxxxx Safety requirements for hazardous chemicals in consumer products is a draft national standard published by China's National Consumer Product Safety Standardisation Technical Commission in April 2017. The draft standard is known as the Chinese version of EU REACH annex XVII restricted substances list. If adopted, the standard will restrict 103 chemical substances in various consumer products such as toys, textiles, batteries, paints, coatings, and furniture.

Some of those restricted substances include:

  • Heavy metals such as Pb, Cd, Hg ,Cr (VI), Ba, Ni, Co, As, Cu;
  • PAHs
  • PFOS
  • Phenols including BPA
  • Organostannic compounds
  • Volatile organic compounds (VOC) such as benzene, xylene

Organostannic compounds
  • Tri-substituted organostannic compounds: Tri-substituted organostannic compounds such as tributyltin (TBT) compounds and triphenyltin (TPT) compounds shall not be used after 1 July 2010 in articles where the concentration in the article, or part thereof, is greater than the equivalent of 0,1 % by weight of tin.
  • Dioctyltin (DOT) compounds: Dioctyltin (DOT) compounds shall not be used in the following articles where the concentration in the article, or part thereof, is greater than the equivalent of 0,1 % by weight of tin: textile articles intended to come into contact with the skin,  gloves, footwear or part of footwear intended to come into contact with the skin, wall and floor coverings, childcare articles, female hygiene products, nappies.
